About Us: The Leeuwarden Exchange

This platform documents the week-long international exchange of second-year Cybersecurity students from Howest University of Applied Sciences to NHL Stenden in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

Operating from March 9th to March 13th, 2026, this blog was established as the primary deliverable for our International Project. Its purpose is to provide a transparent look at the transition between our Belgian curriculum and the academic environment of our Dutch counterparts.

Project Context

Rather than focusing solely on isolated technical labs, this project was designed to emphasize the cultural and professional integration required in the modern IT sector. As second-year students, our objective was to observe, adapt, and document the different pedagogical approaches to security and technology encountered at NHL Stenden.

Core Focus Areas

The content hosted on this site reflects our daily activities and observations during the exchange, specifically targeting:

  • Academic Comparison: Identifying the differences in how cybersecurity concepts are taught and applied in the Netherlands.

  • Professional Development: Navigating a foreign academic environment and developing the communication skills essential for international collaboration.

  • Project Documentation: Fulfilling the requirements of our international module through consistent reporting and digital storytelling.

Purpose of this Website

This site serves as the official record of our time in Leeuwarden. It is intended for faculty review, peer assessment, and as a reference point for future Howest students participating in similar cross-border initiatives.
